Benjamin Richter is a performing artist working at the intersections of contemporary circus and dance for over 30 years. He has developed a unique choreographic voice encompassing his playful somatic, object-oriented, and improvisational practices. He likes to laugh.
Benjamin creates and performs both as a soloist and in various collaborations with, amongst others, the Bauhaus Dessau foundation, The Czech Association for Choreographic Development and Atemzug Köln. He has collaborated with the world renowned Gandini Juggling in three productions since 1993, and has performed his own works in theatres, museums, galleries and at festivals worldwide.
He currently performs his solo piece "TAKTiL" and is collaborating with circus researcher and dramaturge Jenny Patschovsky on a new object oriented performance which will premiere in 2024.
Benjamin has spent decades in artistic research, teaching, deconstructing and enriching both his own practices and those of the countless other artists he has supported. These include Andrea Salustri, Kolja Hüneck, Roman Skadra, John-Paul Zaccarini, Stefan Sing, Hippana-Maleta, and many others. He has designed many creative courses and taught BA, MA, PHD and independent students at the Stockholm University of the Arts since 2003.
